Weingut Allram is located in the heart of Austria, in the Kamptal region. The family considers it their duty to uphold traditions, having made wine to high standards for four generations. Today, winemaker Lorenz Allram and his sister Magdalena continue to pursue their passion for quality and are transforming the winery into a fully organic operation.

Taste description

Deep greenish-yellow. The nose reveals aromas of ripe and spicy fruit. The palate has well-balanced acidity, minerality, and notes of blood orange and honeydew melon. The wine is powerful and juicy, followed by an elegant and long finish.

Serve this wine with refined dishes such as veal or lamb.

Vinification

After the grapes are hand-picked, they undergo a short maceration on the skins. Controlled fermentation takes place using only natural yeasts at a temperature of 20°C. The wine then matures for approximately eight months on the lees in large oak barrels.

Ried Gaisberg (1er Cru) is one of Allram’s oldest Grüner Veltliner vineyards.

Soil

This vineyard extends to 330 meters above sea level and occupies a steep, east-facing slope descending to the Straßertal valley, and a gentle south-facing slope. The soils in the upper part of the area have developed on gneiss, mica schist, and amphibolite rocks, while at the southern foot of the slope, a humus-rich soil has developed on a thick layer of loess.

Fattoria dei Barbi is one of only five estates in Montalcino that have been continuously operating for over 100 years. The Colombini family founded the prestigious estate in 1790. They helped build Brunello di Montalcino’s reputation as a wine of great quality and prestige worldwide. The Fattoria dei Barbi estate is owned and managed by the 20th-generation heir, Stefano Cinelli Colombini.

Taste description

The wine has an intense red color and a bouquet of raspberries and spices. Spicy, with hints of pink pepper, wild herbs, plums, blueberries, and rhubarb. A well-structured wine, long, juicy, and savory. Very persistent. The palate is powerful and full.

Wine and food pairing

Perfect for roasted or grilled red meat, game, and venison. Delicious with aged cheese.

Vinification

Before fermentation, the grapes underwent a cold pre-fermentative maceration, which consisted of cooling the grapes to a temperature of 16°C in a CO2-protected environment. This process enhanced the extraction of polyphenols and aroma compounds. Regular alcoholic fermentation followed, lasting 16/17 days at a controlled temperature of 27°-28°C. After maturation and malolactic fermentation, the wine spent the first few months aging in small to medium-sized oak barrels (2.25-15 hl). It then completed its aging in larger oak barrels for a total of two years, and was then bottled at least four months before release.
